About Me

I grew up in San Pedro, California, was educated at Oberlin College and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, and I now live in Baraboo (near Madison), Wisconsin, with my family. I'm the author of the novels The Tracks of Angels, Self-Portrait with Ghosts, and the forthcoming Ghost Mother.

My short plays and monologues have been produced in New York, Boston, Madison, and Glasgow, Scotland; I also write flash fiction, often based on fractured fairy tales; my travel stories tend to focus on culture, food, and drink. Since January, 2018, I have been a guest writer for FirstForWomen, and I really enjoy writing about issues concerning women at midlife.

I'm passionate about helping other writers achieve success--whatever "success" means to them.

I laugh hard and often and agree with Oscar Wilde that "Life is too important to be taken seriously."
