About Me

I grew up in San Pedro, California, was educated at Oberlin College and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, and I now live in Baraboo (near Madison), Wisconsin, with my family. I'm the author of the novels The Tracks of Angels, Self-Portrait with Ghosts, and the forthcoming Ghost Mother. My short plays and monologues have been produced in New York, Boston, and Madison; I also write flash fiction, often based on fractured fairy tales; my travel stories tend to focus on culture and drink. Since January, 2018, I have been a guest writer for FirstForWomen. I'm passionate about travel, theater, and literature, and I love to help other writers pursue their passions, too. I laugh hard and often and agree with Oscar Wilde that "Life is too important to be taken seriously."
